Speech Pathology assessments
Speech Pathology assessments are used for the Speech Pathologist to find out the best way to help your child or to advise you if there is a problem or if it is something the child will "grow out of". Assessments can be "formal" which usually means sitting down to complete a test or series of tests, or informal which would involve more of a play-based or functional observation assessment.
Assessments can be short "Screening", mid-length, or long depending on how complex the needs are that are being assessed.
Conditions/ difficulties that our Speech Pathologist typically assesses:
- Infant or child feeding, chewing and swallowing issues
- Disability related swallowing/ feeding difficulties (NDIS participants - plan or self-managed clients)
- Speech disorders or delays
- Language disorders or delays eg. late talkers, school aged language delays
- Communication difficulties associated with developmental delays, genetic disorders, Autism and other associated issues
- Assessments and trials for assistive technology for communication devices
- Functional assessments of how communication difficulty is causing/ contributing to significant behavioural issues
