About Me
Hi, my name is Rachel I have been a certified practising speech pathologist and living in this area for 20 years total, first starting off as Rachel Taylor-Notley and then later becoming a Wieckowski ("wee- cow- ski". I fell in love with this area and lifestyle 20 years ago and have since had 3 more children born here so my connection to this place is one thing that inspired my business name - Speech by Forster beach. I also wanted the business name to reflect my focus on service delivery in non-clinical settings such as home, outdoor settings (yes including the beach if you would like that), preschool, playgrounds etc. I also will offer some appointments in my clinic space in Forster.
My Speechie history in this area includes:
- 10 years in a community health senior Speech Pathology role at Forster Community Health.
- I then worked for a short time in private practice before spending the last 7 years working for a local Early Intervention service.

I now am very excited to be going it solo again! and having some "me time" with my beautiful family who need me, while also trying to help support as many local children as I can. I am open to discussing any projects where I can get involved and make a difference in the community for children to access Speech Pathology services.

I also have a strong interest in developing professional skills in the area through offering clinical supervision for Speech Pathologists, Student Speech Pathologists and training for Allied health assistants and support workers so that more children can eventually access the help that they need right here in this little place by the beach.

- Assisting with additional diagnosis eg. contributing to a suspected Autism diagnosis as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Providing evidence based therapy for target groups
- Providing training for assistants or parents to implement strategies that will help reduce the amount of time needed in direct therapy with a speech pathologist (where appropriate/ evidence based)
- Consulting with community organisations regarding gaps in service availability or access and working with them where possible to find potential funding options and service delivery models to help close those gaps
